
Bears Trip To ETSU, Chattanooga To Open Second Half Of SoCon Slate

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer volleyball team heads to Tennessee to take on ETSU and Chattanooga to open up the second half of Southern Conference play on Oct. 21-22.
Mercer is coming off of a 1-1 weekend with a win against Western Carolina and suffered a tough loss to Samford in five sets. Charlotte Thompson put up a career-high kills against Western Carolina with 16 kills (.517) and posted another double-digit kill performance against Samford with 11. Sophomore setter Sammi Bergjans tallied a career-high 27 assists against Samford and sophomore libero Aubri Martin recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 12 digs and 11 assists against the Catamounts and 22 digs and 11 assists against the Bulldogs.
ETSU faced Mercer to open up conference play on Sept. 25 in Hawkins Arena, resulting in a 3-0 win for the Bucs and have remained undefeated in the SoCon since then with an overall record of 14-5. The Bears then hosted the Mocs the next day resulting in a 3-0 Chattanooga win. The Mocs currently sit second in the conference behind ETSU with a SoCon record of 6-2 and an overall record of 12-8. Chattanooga dropped matches to ETSU and UNC Greensboro earlier in the season.
Mercer will start the road trip in Johnson City to take on ETSU at 6 p.m. in J. Madison Brooks Gymnasium on Tuesday October. 21 and then will close out the trip on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Chattanooga for a 6 p.m. match against the Mocs in Maclellan Gym. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
