
Mercer Takes On ETSU In SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals Friday

MACON, Ga. -  The Mercer women's soccer team is set to play ETSU in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals Friday evening. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. from the Catamount Athletic Complex.

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's game will be the 28th all-time meeting between the two teams. Mercer leads the series 15-6-6. The two teams met earlier this season in Macon back on Sept. 26. Mercer led 1-0 thanks to an early second half goal from Payton Nutzman but ETSU scored the equalizing goal in the 88th minute as the game finished 1-1.
LAST TIME OUT
Sydney Farr broke open a scoreless game with a goal in the 77th minute to help the Mercer Bears to a 1-0 win at The Citadel last Sunday from Charleston, South Carolina.
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU is 9-3-6 on the season and went 4-1-4 with 16 points in the SoCon. The Bucs earned the No. 3 seed in the SoCon Tournament.
ETSU's third-place finish in the regular season was their second top three finish in the last three years, and their second-best finish since 2018. The Buccaneers were the two seed in the 2023 SoCon Tournament and advanced to the semifinals that year. Reagan Fitzgerald paces ETSU with nine goals and 23 points, which rank fourth and third in the SoCon, respectively. Fitzgerald is second in the nation in game-winning goals with six, and the Bucs are 12-1-1 when Fitzgerald scores since her freshman season in 2023.
ETSU goalie Addison Yelton recorded her eighth shutout of the season against VMI which tied ETSU's single-season record. Yelton is second in the SoCon in shutouts and 20th in the country while also leading the SoCon and ranking 46th nationally in goals against average (0.772).
