Padio, Stefanovic Excel At Battle On The Plains

AUBURN, Ala. – Hod'Abalo Isak Padio cruised through the weekend with a perfect 4-0 mark in singles play, then teamed up with fellow senior Nemanja Stefanovic to capture three of four doubles matchups, to highlight action Mercer at the Auburn-hosted Battle Of The Plains over the weekend.

Padio logged straight-sets victories in three of his four singles bouts against opponents from Auburn, Troy, Clemson and Samford. He battled back from an opening-set loss to Luciano Alcocer on Saturday morning to eventually defeat the junior from Troy with 6-4, 6-1 triumphs in the second and third sets, respectively.

Padio and Stefanovic all but cruised in doubles action with the duo's only blemish on the weekend coming via a 7-2 tiebreaker to Troy's Alcocer and Yeray Andres Pastor on Friday afternoon. Padio/Stefanovic yielded just one game in toppling Auburn's duo of Joey Phillips and Thomas Kennedy that kicked off the weekend.

The Bears will continue the fall portion of their 2025-26 schedule beginning on Wednesday when they head to Gainesville, Fla., for the ITA Regional Championships at Florida's Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
