Padio, Stefanovic Head To ITA Regional Championships

MACON – A challenging fall schedule will continue for Had'Abalo Isak Padio and Nemanja Stefanovic this weekend when the senior duo competes among the best tennis players in the southeast at the Florida-hosted ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Gainesville, Fla.

Both players are scheduled to open play at the 5-day event on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Stefanovic will take on Florida junior Jeremy Jin in his debut at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex, while Padio will lock horns with Kennesaw State freshman Leon Peranovic. Padio and Stefanovic will join forces on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they begin doubles competition against the Florida Gulf Coast tandem of Mika Bunjes and Gustav Hasslegren.

The Mercer duo is fresh off of a strong performance at the Auburn-hosted Battle On The Plains last weekend, registering both singles and doubles victories over opponents from Auburn, Troy, Clemson and Samford. Padio has registered a 6-1 mark in singles through a pair of Fall events, while also teaming up with Stefanovic to register a 3-1 clip in doubles action.
