  2ND QUARTER
Jackson State scored the first five points of the second quarter to pull to within a pair of possessions, 10-5, but Rania Curry hit the front end of a two-shot foul on the other end of the court to signal a 10-0 run over the next 2-1/2 minutes that allowed the visitors to pull away for good. Micah O'Dell hit a short jumper at the 6:21 mark to push MU's advantage out to 15 points, 38-23, and the Bears inevitably took a 46-34 lead into the locker rooms.
  3RD QUARTER
Jackson State, again, opened the period with five-straight points to whittle its deficit down to single digits just more than two minutes into the second half, but the Bears answered with a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to pad their lead out to a game-high 16 points, 57-41. Mercer shot 44.4 percent from the field in the third quarter, but keyed its scoreboard consistency with a 6-for-7 clip from the charity stripe.
  4TH QUARTER
The squads combined for just six made field goals in the fourth quarter, including a 3-for-10 showing by the hosts, and the scoreboard disparity rarely changed. Mercer, twice, pushed its lead out to 14 points, and held the Tigers without a field goal for the final 5-1/2 minutes of the afternoon.
