
Mercer's Balanced Attack Leads Bears To 95-83 Win Over Eastern Kentucky

Six players scored in double figures
RICHMOND, Ky. – Six Mercer players scored in double figures led by Quinton Perkins II with 20 points and Mercer rolled to a strong 95-83 win over Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon from Baptist Health Arena in Richmond, Kentucky.
With the win the Bears have won each of their two games in the SoCon/ASUN challenge with the other win coming at home on Nov. 9 against Lipscomb.

Mercer had it's most efficient game of the season offensively going 34-for-61 (55.7%) from the field and 13-for-23 (56.5%) from three-point range. It was the Bears' best shooting performance of the season from behind the arc and the 13 made three-pointers were also a season high.
The Bears also outrebounded the Colonels 40-34 and had a 34-28 edge in points in the paint. Perkins went 7-for-9 from the field including 4-for-5 from deep for 20 points. Baraka Okojie had 18 points, 5 rebounds, and five assists. Armani Might recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
Perkins seemingly couldn't miss to start the game as he made his first four shots including 3-for-3 from three-point range for 11 points less than four minutes into the game to give Mercer an early 14-9 lead.
Zaire Williams got a steal and went the other way for a fastbreak dunk to give the Bears a 21-16 lead. A few minutes later, Eastern Kentucky would tie the game at 23 with just under 11 minutes to play in the first half. Mercer responded by going on a 9-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Kyle Cuffe Jr. to give Mercer a 32-23 lead.
Back-to-back buckets from Perkins and Williams extended Mercer's lead to its largest of the first half at 45-27 with five minutes to play in the first half. Mighty closed the scoring in the first half with a hookshot in the paint to give the Bears a 53-38 lead at halftime.
2ND HALF
Okojie knocked down a three-pointer early in the second half to give Mercer a 59-40 lead. Eastern Kentucky cut the Mercer lead to 12 at 69-57 with under 12 minutes to play. A second-chance layup from Okojie pushed Mercer's lead back up to 18 at 78-60 with just over eight minutes to play.
Eastern Kentucky could never get Mercer's lead into single digits for the remainder of the game as the Bears earned the 95-83 win on the road.
