No. 6 Bears Close Out Regular Season At Auburn

MACON – Sixth-seeded Mercer (9-2, 8-0 SoCon) begins its road to the national championship on Saturday when it hosts 11th-seeded South Dakota (9-4, 6-2 MVFC) in the second round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon inside FIve Star Stadium.

Saturday's game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ with Kelsie Kasper and Forrest Conoly handling the duties in the booth. Rick Cameron and the rest of the Mercer Sports Network will call all of the action as well, and fans can listen to that broadcast on The Creek 100.9 FM, or by visiting Sportsmic. A live statistics link is also being provided by the Mercer athletics department.

MERCER/SOUTH DAKOTA SERIES
Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between Mercer and South Dakota. It will also be just the third time in program history that the Bears have faced a current member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Both previous meetings (South Dakota State, 2023; North Dakota State, 2024) with MVFC teams have come in NCAA postseason play as well.

BEARS IN THE FCS PLAYOFFS
The Bears went 1-1 in each of their two previous playoff appearances, including a first-round win over Gardner-Webb in 2023 and a second-round triumph over 10th-seeded Rhode Island last year. Mercer was ousted from the FCS Playoffs by the eventual national champion in both 2023 (South Dakota State) and 2024 (North Dakota State).

MU AT HOME
Mercer is now 34-39 (.466) in true road games since football returned to campus in 2013, including a 34-27 (.557) clip against FCS competition ... The Bears are 24-20 on the road against Southern Conference foes since joining the league prior to the 2014 campaign ... MU has captured 12 of its last 17 regular season road games heading into the Week 12 contest at Auburn ... The Bears also boast FCS's fourth-longest road win streak (5 games) and have already recorded a single-season record five road wins.

ACTIVE RECORD WIN STREAKS
Mercer extended its school record (overall) win streak to nine games with the Week 12 win over Chattanooga ... The Bears eclipsed the school record for consecutive victories three weeks ago with the 52-28 win at Furman ... That result helped MU surpass the 2024 squad that reeled in its first six games of the season ... That 2024 run shattered the previous record of five that was jointly held by the 2013, 2022 and 2023 squads … The Week 9 victory over the Keydets also gave the Bears their first 5-0 start in conference play in the 51-plus seasons of the program.

NEXT WEEK FOR THE BEARS
With the Week 11 win at Western Carolina, Mercer clinched at least a share of the Southern Conference title, as well as the league's automatic bid into the NCAA FCS Playoffs which begin on November 29 at designated campus sites ... Mercer is 2-2 all-time in the NCAA postseason and is set to make its third-straight postseason appearance this year ...
