Four Bears scored in double figures
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Four Bears scored in double figures led by Ahmad Robinson's 19 points, but the Mercer Bears fell on the road to Chattanooga, 93-84 Saturday afternoon from McKenzie Arena.
The Bears came out hot offensively in the first half, scoring 48 points while shooting 19-for-30 (63.3%) from the field and 6-for-11 (54.5%) from three-point range. Mercer controlled the game in the paint, as the Bears outrebounded Chattanooga 42-36 led by Marcus Overstreet's 11 boards and paint points were 36-24, Mercer.
Robinson scored 19 points despite sitting most of the second half after picking up his fourth foul just minutes into the game. Tyler Johnson added 17 points and seven rebounds and Brady Shoulders had 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go with five rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
Shoulders knocked down a three-pointer in the corner to give Mercer an early 9-5 lead. A three from Johnson followed by a dunk from Overstreet gave Mercer an 18-12 lead. Chattanooga's Honor Huff connected on a three-pointer to make it a one-point Mercer lead at 22-21.
A steal from Jah Nze led to an open three-pointer for Cam Bryant who drained the shot from deep to put the Bears ahead 37-30 with just under six minutes to go in the first half. A few minutes later Robinson made a layup to cap off a 10-0 Mercer run to give the Bears a 41-30 lead. Mercer would go into the locker room at halftime leading 48-41.
2ND HALF
Both teams continued to make shots to begin the second half as Mercer led 56-48 after a layup from Johnson. Chattanooga once again got within one at 56-55 after the Mocs' Frank Champion made a three-pointer. A few minutes later Johnson connected on his third three of the game to put Mercer in front 64-58.
A pair of free throws from Robinson gave Mercer a 71-70 lead with just over six minutes to play. Then, the Mocs went on an 8-0 run to take a 78-71 lead with five minutes to play. Robinson made a three-pointer from the wing to cut the deficit to 85-81 with 90 seconds to play, however the Mocs made most of their free throws down the stretch and got a few defensive stops to hold on for the win.

+ Mercer's 48 first half points were the most the Bears scored in any half of a conference game this season.
+ The Bears shot 11-for-25 (44.0%) from three-point range, the second best three-point percentage in a SoCon game this season.
+ Mercer was called for 27 fouls in the game, the second most in any game this season (32 vs Winthrop).
+ Points in the paint were 36-24, Mercer.
+ Coming off a double-double against The Citadel, Marcus Overstreet had a season high 11 rebounds to go with eight points.
+ Brady Shoulders matched his career high of 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
