MACON – The Mercer athletics department will shine the spotlight on the community service efforts of its more-than 400 student-athletes in the form of 90-second featurettes as part of its "Every Number Has A Name" series that is presented by Georgia Power.
Â
The featurettes will tell the stories of Mercer's student-athletes as it relates to their lives both in the community and inside the classroom. Among the stories are a handful of Bears that volunteered their time as part of the Mercer On Mission initiatives, as well as others that have exhibited their academic prowess as evidenced by district and national recognition.
Â
"We are thrilled to showcase the incredible stories of our student-athletes beyond the field and court," said Deputy Athletics Director for External Relations Daniel Tate. "At Mercer, one of our core values is Majoring in Changing the World, and this series is a testament to that mission. Our student-athletes are not only excelling in competition but also making a meaningful impact in the classroom and in the community.
"We're grateful to Georgia Power for making this project possible, and we can't wait for our fans and community to see first-hand that every student-athlete at Mercer is more than just a number—they are leaders, role models and difference-makers."
Â
The 10-part series will make its debut on Sunday on Mercer's social media channels. Stay connected to the Mercer Bears by following the athletics department on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
