Mercer Heads To Atlanta On Saturday To Tangle With Georgia State

MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will close out a scheduled 3-match stretch away from home on Saturday when the Bears make the short hop over to Atlanta to take on in-state rival Georgia State at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center. First serves are scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Bears (2-3) will head to the capital city looking for their first win in the 16-year-old series with the Panthers. Georgia State (2-5) snapped a three-match skid with a 4-1 road win over Furman last weekend, but the Panthers also boast a 4-1 home triumph over Chattanooga earlier this season.

Newcomer Hod'Abalo Isak Padio boasts a team-leading 12 singles victories on the men's side, as does junior Nemanja Stefanovic who has recorded three of those wins during the spring portion of the 2024-25 campaign. On the doubles courts, Padio and fellow newcomer Amen Prince Gandonou have teamed up for 15 doubles wins, including three across the 5-match-old dual schedule.

Following Saturday's action in Atlanta, Mercer will open up a two-match home stand on Sunday against North Florida (2-10) at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. Start time has been scheduled for 1 p.m. and admission is free.
