
Bears Finish Tied For Third At Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. - Katie Scheck and Emilia Väistö finished in the top 10 and the Mercer women's golf team finished tied for third with Boston College at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational from The National Golf Course in Greensboro, Georgia.
As a team, the Bears had their best round of the tournament on Sunday with a of 7-over, 295, and finished the tournament with a total score of 38-over, 902. Western Kentucky won the tournament with a team score of 20-over, 884, six shots ahead of Florida who finished as runner-up.
The challenging course, combined with the cool temperatures proved to be difficult for all 15 teams to score low throughout the weekend as the average score to par was 77.2. Western Kentucky's final round of 1-under par, 287 was the only round under par for any team throughout the tournament.
Florida Atlantic's Charlotte Perkins won the tournament by one stroke with a score of 1-over, 217. Katie Scheck and Emilia Väistö each finished tied for eighth at 8-over, 224. Scheck carded a final round of even par, 72 and Väistö had a round of 1-over 73.
The Bears led the field with 181 pars and had the second fewest bogeys with 55 throughout the tournament. Mercer played the par 3's better than any other team as the Bears shot 7-over par on them.
Analiese Raath who played as an individual for the Bears led the team with eight birdies over her 54-holes. It was tied for the third birdies most among the 84 players in the field.
Next up for Mercer is the Gator Invitational from March 7-9 in Gainesville, Florida.
