
Bears, ETSU To Clash Thursday In Macon

MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will ride the momentum of a big Sunday road win back into Macon on Thursday when the Bears suit up to take on Southern Conference rival East Tennessee State in a 2 p.m. matchup at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. Admission is free.

Mercer (6-6, 1-0 SoCon) trailed Chattanooga, 3-2, in Sunday's tilt at the UTC Tennis Center, but rallied for two-straight singles wins to eke out the triumph, including Amen Prince Gandonou's three-set win over Cortland Grove. The Orange & Black has now captured four of its last six outings, and is 4-2 in its home facility this season as well.

Nine-time defending SoCon Tournament champion East Tennessee State (8-5, 2-0) had its seven-match win streak snapped with a 4-0 setback at 65th-ranked Florida Atlantic in their last action on March 19, but the Bucs have outscored league foes 13-1 so far this season. Thursday's outing at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center will also mark the fifth-stop in a six-match road trip for ETSU.

The Bucs lead the all-time series with the Bears, 20-1, but Mercer got on the board in the series with a 4-3 upset when the squads last met in Macon on March 16, 2023.
