Beach Bears Return To Sunshine State For JU Senior Weekend

MACON – The Mercer beach volleyball team will journey to Florida for the third time this season on Saturday and Sunday to take part in the Jacksonville-hosted JU Senior Weekend at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.
The Bears (16-8) are scheduled for four games across the two-day event, including a trio of rematches. Mercer will open its stay in northeast Florida on Saturday at noon when it locks horns with Jacksonville (7-13) for the fourth time this season, and will close out opening-day action immediately following (2 p.m.) by taking on Eckerd (6-14) for the second time in 2025.
Sunday's schedule has the Orange & Black battling Eckerd at 9 a.m., as well as a 1 p.m. tilt with Webber (7-4).
Mercer is within a lone victory of matching the program superlative for season wins – a mark set by last season's club that closed out its campaign with a 17-19 clip. The Bears, who split four league contests at last weekend's Sun Belt Mid-Year Weekend in Foley, Ala., are ranked No. 36 in the latest TruVolley.com TVR rankings.
MU's No. 4 Pair of seniors Kathryn Corbett and Nicole O'Mara have won nine of their last 10 matchups, and will tote a team-best 18-4 record into the weekend. The No. 5 Pair for the Orange & Black – senior Reese Hood and freshman Grace Rathburn – has raked in 13 wins in 2025.
