
Mercer Rolls To 20-7 Win Over Radford On Senior Day

Caroline Glus led Mercer with six goals
MACON, Ga. - Caoline Glus scored a career high six goals and Mercer overcame an early deficit to win convincingly at home, 20-7 over Radford on Senior Day from Five Star Stadium.
Nine different Mercer players scored for the Bears led by Glus' six goals. It's the third game this season in which the Bears scored 20 or more goals.
Mercer had a season high 43 shots to just 16 for Radford. Shots on goal were 29-10, Bears. Mercer did a great job winning the turnover battle as Radford had 17 turnovers to just seven for Mercer. Draw controls were 18-12, Mercer.
Abby Morrison had a hat trick for her second consecutive game to go with a team high four draw controls.
Defensively, Mercer had five caused turnovers all by different players. Abby Soltys had a team high four ground balls. Kayla Casey made four saves while allowing just five goals in three quarters of playing time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer started slowly, as the Bears fell behind 3-0 midway through the first quarter. Ansley Walters and Glus scored less than one minute apart and Mercer trailed 3-2 after the first quarter.
The second quarter ended up being one of Mercer's most dominant quarters of the season, as the Bears outscored the Highlanders, 8-0 in the frame. The Bears scored four goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter to suddenly take a 6-3 lead. Morrison would then score three of Mercer's next four goals including a shot for a goal that just beat the halftime buzzer as Mercer took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Mercer started the second half fast with three goals in the first four minutes with Glus accounting for two of them to take a 13-3 lead. Krissy Rael and Kaileigh Wallace scored later in the third quarter and Mercer led 16-5 heading to the fourth quarter.
Senior Abby Grimaldi scored her first goal of the season for Mercer's last goal of the game as the Bears cruised to a 20-7 win on Senior Day.

Mercer goes back on the road on Wednesday, April 9 to take on Presbyterian from Clinton, South Carolina. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
