
Mercer Controls Game From Start In Dominant 21-4 Win At Presbyterian

Mercer led 14-1 at halftime
CLINTON, S.C. - Abby Morrison scored four first half goals and the Mercer women's lacrosse team was dominant from start to finish in a 21-4 win at Presbyterian Wednesday evening from Clinton, South Carolina.
It was a mostly balance scoring attack as 10 different Mercer players scored at least one goal, led by Morrison's four goals. Defensively, Mercer held Presbyterian to just 13 shots compared to 32 for the Bears. Mercer had 12 caused turnovers led by Abbi Rupnow and Caroline Glus with three each.
Mercer was once again the better team in the draw circle as draws were 19-9 in favor of the Bears. Freshman Ayla Galloway had a career high 13 draw controls.
Sofia D'Angelo matched Morrison with a 4-point outing with two goals and two assists. Glus had three goals, three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Kayla Casey allowed just one goal while making three saves in 35 minutes of action in the cage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with Abby Vane scoring twice. After Presbyterian got one back, the Bears responded by scoring the next three goals to take an 8-1 lead after the opening quarter.
Mercer scored five goals in the first six minutes of the second quarter to really take control of the game with a 13-1 lead. Morrison scored in the final minute of the half as Mercer went into halftime with a 14-1 lead on the road.
The third quarter was rather quiet in terms of scoring with the Blue Hose scoring twice and D'Angelo accounting for Mercer's lone goal in the quarter.
Reaghan Lomascola and Harmony Hall scored twice on assists from Meira Liberman and Brooke Jones scored her first career goal in the fourth quarter as Mercer finished off a 21-4 conference win on the road.

Mercer returns home on Saturday, April 12 to welcome High Point to Five Star Stadium. First draw is set for noon.
