Bears Close Out Day-One Action At East Coast Relays

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Nikki Harris nearly equaled her school-record time in the 1500m Run on the way to a 13^th place finish, while junior Olivia Jones registered a personal best in the event as well, as the Mercer track & field team turned in a handful of impressive performances on Day 1 of the North Florida-hosted East Coast Relays.

Harris, who shattered the program record in the 1500m Run with a time of 4:32.35 just more than a month ago, was just less than two seconds off of that pace on Friday evening. Jones bettered her personal record in the event by more than a second en route to crossing in 38^th place.

The Orange & Black will close out its stay at UNF's Hodges Stadium by competing in three more events on Saturday beginning with the 100m Hurdles at 10:30 a.m. Mercer also has entries in both the Triple Jump (1 p.m.) and the 800m Run (2 p.m.).
