
Mercer Meets High Point Once Again In Big South Tournament Championship

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team will once again play the High Point Panthers for the Big South Tournament Championship on Sunday afternoon from Five Star Stadium.
First draw is set for noon with the winner earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game will be the 10th all-time meeting between Mercer and High Point. Mercer leads the series, 6-3 with the Bears winning each of the last six games against the Panthers including a 16-13 win earlier this season.
LAST TIME OUT
Sofia D'Angelo scored four goals to go with one assists and Mercer played a great first half on its way to a commanding 15-9 win over Wofford in the Big South Tournament semfinals, Friday afternoon from Five Star Stadium.
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point enters the championship game with a 12-5 overall record. The Panthers went 7-1 in the Big South with its lone loss coming against Mercer back on April 12.
High Point defeated the No. 3 seed Furman Paladins in the semifinals, 18-14.
High Point as one of the most potent offenses in the country as their scoring offense ranks second nationally behind only Boston College at 17.6 goals per game.
The Panthers led the Big South with nine All-Conference selections including four First Team All-Conference players. Four Panthers have more than 60 points on the season led by senior attacker Allie Connally who has 71 points (40G, 31A). Connally also ranks second in the Big South with 108 draw controls. Right behind her is attacker Reese Dowgiallo with 70 points (33G, 37A).
The expected starting goalie for the Panthers is First Team All-Conference goalie is Ava Welsh who owns a 12.5 goals against average with a 43.4 save percentage.
