Bears Picked to Finish Third in Preseason Poll

MACON – The Mercer men's soccer team was voted by their peers to finish third in the Southern Conference's preseason coaches' poll. No Bears received preseason All-SoCon honors.

UNC Greensboro was named the favorite to win the SoCon, receiving four of the six first-place votes and edging out defending champions Furman by two points. The Spartans have seven athletes on the 13-player preseason All-Conference team.

Mercer received 16 points and no first-place votes. ETSU, Wofford and VMI round out the rest of the poll.

With no returning starters from the 2024 season, and 20 new additions to Mercer's roster, no Bear earned All-SoCon recognition.

The Bears open the regular season on Thursday, August 21, defending Betts Stadium from the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels. Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M. EST.
