Senior Morganne Eikelbarner scored her first career hat trick and the Mercer Bears rolled to a 5-0 win at home over Gardner-Webb on Senior Day from Betts Stadium last Sunday.

Winthrop enters Thursday's game with a 2-2-2 overall record. Mercer will be the fourth straight SoCon opponent for the Eagles and sixth SoCon team they will have played. Winthrop is 1-2-2 against SoCon teams with their lone win coming against The Citadel, 2-1. Winthrop was picked to finish eighth out of nine teams in the Preseason Big South Coaches Poll.
Winthrop has been shutout in each of their last three games.The Eagles have been shutout in four of their six games so far this season. Defensively, Winthrop has played well, with three shutouts and Chattanooga being the only team to have scored more than two goals in a game against them.
Offensively, Winthrop's leading goal scorer is midfielder Monssi Avila-Gutierrez who has two of Winthrop's three goals on the season.
