MACON, Ga. - The Mercer volleyball team fell to Chattanooga in its second conference game of the season 0-3 inside Hawkins Arena on Friday night for its Yellow Game. Despite both teams recording nearly the same amount of kills and digs, the Chattanooga block made the biggest difference between the two squads, pushing the Mocs towards their first Southern Conference victory.

Sophomore setter Sammi Bergjans recorded a match-high 21 assists on the night, while also adding two service aces and seven digs. Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Henry once again led the Bears with ten kills, followed by Charlotte Thompson and Avery Wilks who added seven and six kills, respectively. Sophomores Joselynn Sanjurjo and Aubri Martin held it down on defense with Sanjurjo's three blocks and Martin's nine digs.

The Bears will trip to Greenville, S.C. on Oct. 2 for a Thursday night matchup against the Furman Paladins. First serve is schedule for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 24-26	Mercer got off to a 2-0 start in set one after a statement kill from Joselynn Sanjurjo. The Bears then went on a five-point service run from Jessica Dunn to extend the lead 10-4. The Mocs were able to go on a few multi-point service runs to even the score at the 19-19 mark. Chattanooga's offense came to life to top Mercer in a close set one.
SET 2 I 20-25	The Bears once again got off to a hot start taking a 5-0 lead after a strong service run from Sarah Frager. Chattanooga was able to battle back and the remainder of the set was back and forth, with six tie scores. The Mocs capitalized off of a few kills and Mercer errors to force a must-win set three for the Bears.
SET 3 I 22-25	Set three was another back and forth battle between the two squads with Chattanooga taking the first lead this time. The Orange & Black kept coming within inches of the Mocs but Chattanooga was able to keep the set out of reach and ultimately taking their first conference win of the season.
