Mercer Prepared To Host UNCG Thursday Night

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball returns hom where they have yet to lose this season as the Bears welcome UNCG to Macon Thursday night. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. inside Hawkins Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Down three points in the final seconds, Baraka Okojie's potential game-tying three-pointer rolled off the rim and Wofford held on to defeat the Bears, 80-77 Saturday afternoon from Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday's game will be the 28th all-time meeting between Mercer and UNCG. UNCG leads the all-time series 14-13. Mercer has won four of the last five games including an 102-92 win earlier this season in Greensboro.

NEED TO KNOW
Thursday's game features two of the top 10 players in the country in rebounds per game in UNCG's Justin Neely who ranks second in the country at 11.8 rebounds per game and Armani Mighty who ranks ninth in the country at 10.6 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING UNCG
UNCG enters Thursday's game with an 8-13 overall record and 4-4 record in conference play. The Spartans are currently fifth in the SoCon standings. Mercer defeated UNCG in Greensboro back on Jan. 17, 102-92.

UNCG is coming off an 89-66 home loss to Furman last Friday. UNCG is just 2-5 on the road this year.

In conference play, UNCG ranks fourth in the conference in scoring at 77.9 points per game. Defensively they've struggled, allowing the most points in the conference at 84.0 points per game.

UNCG's leading scorer is forward Justin Neely who ranks seventh in the league with 16.6 points per game. Freshman KJ Younger is second on the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game.
