SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mercer women's soccer sophomore midfielder has been named to the All-SoCon Second Team as announced by the conference office Thursday evening.
After losing part of her freshman season to a season-ending injury, Nutzman has come back strong her sophomore year, finishing the regular season with 15 points on seven goals and one assist. Her seven goals and 15 points are each second most on the team. In conference play, Nutzman led the Bears with four goals and one assist for nine points. Her four goals in conference play were tied for sixth most among all SoCon players.
Nutzman made a statement in the first game of the season, scoring a brace to lead the Bears to a 2-1 win at Jackson State. In conference play, Nutzman scored a brace in back-to-back games against Wofford and VMI, both leading to wins for the Bears.
Nutzman and the Bears earned the No. 7 seed in the SoCon Tournament and will take on the No. 10 seed Wofford Terriers in the First Round on Friday night from Greenville, South Carolina on the campus of Furman.
