BEARS BY THE NUMBERS
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson opened its season on Monday out in Pullman, Washington against Washington State. The Wildcats defeated the Cougars, 76-61. Four Wildcats scored in double figures and Davidson shot 54.7% (29-of-53) from the floor and 52.2% (12-of-23) from 3-point range.
The team returns seven players from last year's squad. Josh Scovens, Sam Brown, and Ian Platteeuw each started at least 25 games during the 2025-26 campaign. The 'Cats are one of just three A-10 teams (Saint Louis, VCU) returning at least three players who started 25 or more games last season. Scovens was named A-10 Preseason All Second Team. Platteeuw, a seven-footer, was second on the team in assists and ranked fourth among A-10 freshmen in assists during the regular season last year.
Defensively, Davidson played well to open the season. The Wildcats held the Cougars to just 24-for-68 (35.3%) from the field and Washington State went just 5-for-24 (20.8%) from three-point range.Â
Davidson relied heavily on its starting five to score against Davidson as the Wildcats had just three bench points in the game.
