
Women's Lacrosse Visits Vanderbilt Thursday

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team is prepared to play its first road game of the season Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee against Vanderbilt. First draw is set for 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. Central.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the fourth all-time meeting between Mercer and Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has won all three previous games against the Bears. Last season, Vanderbilt defeated Mercer 19-7 in Macon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mercer women's lacrosse team nearly erased a 7-goal second half deficit, but ultimately fell short in a season opening defeat at home to Virginia Tech, 12-10 last Friday from Five Star Stadium.
Caroline Glus led Mercer offensively with three goals and one assist. Mackenzie Ward got her first career start in goal for the Bears. She finished with five saves.
SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt finished last season 9-9 overall and 3-3 in AAC games. The Commodores lost their season opener last Saturday at No. 12 Clemson, 20-5.
Out of the seven teams in the American Athletic Conference, Vanderbilt was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll while James Madison, South Florida and East Carolina were picked ahead of Vanderbilt, respectively, by the coaches.
Graduates Brooke Baker and Nancy Halleron along with junior Alex Gladding were unanimously named All-Conference Preseason Team. Baker, who was named all-conference first team last season, had the third-most goals with 41 and dished a career-high eight assists for the second-most points on the team at 49. The graduate picked up 29 ground balls, won 25 draws and caused nine turnovers during the regular season.
Gladding, named 2025 all-conference second team, was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, helped anchor a defense that picked up 281 ground balls and caused 135 turnovers.
Last season, Halleron scored a career-best 43 goals off 62 shots on frame and dished four assists to total 47 points, third-most on the team.
In Vanderbilt's game at Clemson, the Commodores were outshot 33-13 and lost the draw control battle to the Tigers, 15-10. Halleron led Vanderbilt with two goals.
