Women's Tennis Heads To Florida To Play FGCU And Arkansas State

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis is on the road to play two matches in Florida. The Bears will play Florida Gulf Coast on Friday and Arkansas State on Saturday from Fort Myers, Florida.

The Bears defeated Young Harris, 7-0 on Wednesday from the Copelan Tennis Center in Macon.

Friday's match against FGCU will be the 12th all-time meeting against the Eagles. FGCU has won 10 of the first 11 meetings including a 4-2 win over the Bears last season in Macon.

SCOUTING FGCU
FGCU is off to a strong start this season. The Eagles are 6-2 on the season and are coming off a 4-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Monday. Sophomore Anjali Kotecha is 7-1 on the spring season to lead the Eagles. Kotecha and Nora Svensson are 9-1 in doubles matches in the fall and spring season.

Saturday's match against Arkansas State will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS STATE
Arkansas State is 3-3 so far this spring. The Red Wolves have won their last three matches, including a big win at Memphis on Feb. 8. Sophomore Hanmare McAslin leads the Red Wolves with a singles record of 3-1 from the number three position.
