
Mercer Prepared To Play USF In Tampa On Saturday

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team is in Tampa, Florida to play the USF Bulls Saturday afternoon. First draw is set for noon.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will be the second all-time meeting between Mercer and USF. USF's inaugural season was last year. The Bulls defeated the Bears, 11-8 in Macon.
LAST TIME OUT
For the second straight game, the Mercer women's lacrosse team nearly made an improbable comeback but ultimately couldn't overcome a 7-goal deficit as the Bears fell on the road to Vanderbilt, 14-11 back on Feb. 12.
SCOUTING USF
USF finished its first season in program history last year with a 13-5 overall record and 4-2 record in conference play. Through three games this year, USF is 2-1 with wins over Niagara and Stetson by a combined score of 45-9. USF's lone loss came at home to No. 17 Michigan by the score of 16-10.
Out of the seven teams in the American Athletic Conference, South Florida was picked to finish second - behind only James Madison - in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
Attacker Sofia Chepenick was named the American Conference Preseason Attack Player of the Year. Chepenik,  Kali Cleary and Kaitlyn Tartaglione earned spots on the American Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
Through the Bulls' first three games, they are averaging 18.3 goals per game and allowing an average of 8.3 goals per game. Chepenick leads the Bulls in points (13) and goals (12).
