- The Southern Conference named Braydon Kersey the Player of the Week after a monster week for the Bears where he was a critical piece in Mercer's 4-0 stretch. The sophomore two-way star mashed his first collegiate home run, a go-ahead grand slam, in the eighth inning of Friday night's contest to complete Mercer's 8-1 comeback win over Columbia. Kersey mashed another home run and ripped a two-run double in the Bears' 20-6 victory over the Lions the next day. Kersey went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base while also recording the first Mercer save of the season in the 5-4 win this past Sunday. Kersey finished the week with a .400 batting average, .500 OPS, nine RBI, two home runs, a double, three walks, a stolen base, 1.0 innings pitched, one strikeout (as a pitcher) and a save.
- Chris Katz continues to rake in his first season at Mercer. The senior outfielder went 9-for-17 (.529) from the plate with eight RBI, two doubles, two home runs and five walks this past week. Katz was pivotal in the Bears' come-from-behind win on Friday as he went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer in the sixth inning to cut Mercer's deficit to two runs.
- Mercer currently leads the Southern Conference with a .400 batting average, 15 home runs and a .590 slugging percentage. The Bears are currently second in the SoCon with 49 walks, 15 doubles, 78 hits and a .477 on-base percentage.
- Florida A&M enters this mid-week series on a four-game losing streak. After beginning the season 1-1, the Rattlers have been outscored 34-10 during their skid.
- The Rattlers currently bolster a .203 team batting average with only 36 total hits in 177 at-bats. Florida A&M also has a team 7.88 ERA with 42 earned runs allowed in 48.0 innings this season.
