Mercer Heads To Cullowhee To Play Western Carolina

Baraka Okojie and Quinton Perkins II combined to score 46 points to help lead Mercer past Samford, 89-86 last Saturday from Hawkins Arena.
With the win, Mercer snapped Samford's 6-game winning streak and improved to 13-1 at home this season. Neither team led by more than seven points in a game that saw 17 lead changes.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's game will be the 44th all-time meeting between Mercer and Western Carolina. Western Carolina leads the all-time series 17-16. Mercer has won the last three meetings, including an 88-76 win in Macon back on Jan. 21.
NEED TO KNOW
In his first game in the starting lineup since Dec. 31, Quinton Perkins scored a season high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field in Mercer's win over Samford last Saturday.
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA
Western Carolina enters Wednesday's game on a four-game winning streak and a 12-15 overall record and 8-8 record in conference play. The Catamounts are currently tied for sixth place in the SoCon standings with two games to play in the regular season.
Wednesday's game will be the second meeting of the seaon between Mercer and Chattanooga. The Bears won the first meeting in Macon, 88-76.
Western Carolina has played much better at home than on the road this season. At home the Catamounts are 8-3, but on the road they are just 4-12. In conference play, Western Carolina ranks third in the SoCon in scoring at 79.6 points per game. Defensively, the Catamounts are allowing 76.2 points per game which is fourth best in conference play.
Western Carolina's leading scorer is guard Cord Stansberry who is averaging 13.8 points per game. Forward Marcus Kell is close behind at 13.4 points per game.
