MACON –The Southern Conference named Titan Kamaka the SoCon Player of the Week after a fiery stretch at the plate which led the Mercer Bears to a perfect 5-0 record last week.
The senior shortstop finished the week with a .615/.727/.846 slash line with 5 RBI, three doubles, seven walks, three runs, a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch. Kamaka was a catalyst for the Bears' offense and went 8-for-13 from the five-hole over the last five games. To cap off his recent hot streak, Kamaka helped secure a weekend sweep over Penn for Mercer by going 4-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles in the Bears' 10-5 win over the Quakers this past Sunday.
Kamaka improved his average to .514 on the year and currently leads the SoCon in walks/walks per game, batting average, doubles, on-base percentage and is second in hits and sacrifice flies.
You can catch Kamaka and the rest of the Mercer baseball team on ESPN+ this Wednesday, March 4 as the Bears travel to Tallahassee, Florida to take on the No. 20 (D1Baseball) Florida State Seminoles at Dick Howser Stadium. After that, Mercer returns home for a three-game series against Alcorn State beginning on March 6. Tickets for this weekend's series are available here.
