Bears Fall To ETSU In SoCon Tournament

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer women's tennis team fell to No. 2 seed ETSU, 4-0 in the Quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament, Thursday afternoon from the the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Starting in doubles, ETSU's Niyati Kukreti and Audelie Lesauvage defeated Marie Bannmeyer and Jelena Gojkovic, 6-2. The match on court one went to Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg who won 7-5 over ETSU's Alessandra Caceres and Mariangel Estrella. That left the doubles point to be decided on court two where ETSU's Julia Milan and Ksenija Rage were able to hold off Tea Zivic and Sofiya Tsitavets, 7-5 to win the doubles point for ETSU.
In singles action, Julia Milan of ETSU defeated Tea Zivic, 6-1, 6-0 on court three. On court five, ETSU's Mariangel Estrella won, 6-2, 6-2 over Marie Bannmeyere to give the Bucs a 3-0 lead. Audelie Lesauvage clinched the match for ETSU on court four with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ines Hömberg.
Mercer ends the season with an 8-14 overall record with three players honored with postseason recognition to SoCon All-Conference teams.
