MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's soccer team travels to Orono, Maine to take on the Maine Black Bears Thursday night in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

After missing all of last season to due to injury, senior forward Olivia Bori scored her first goal as a Mercer Bear as the Bears shutdown the West Georgia offense in a 1-0 win on the road in Carrollton, Georgia Sunday night.
SCOUTING MAINE
Thursday's game will be the home opener for Maine. The Black Bears lost their season opener, 1-0 at Rhode Island back on Aug. 12.
Maine went 6-8-4 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play in 2025 en route to a third consecutive America East tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth. In the America East Tournament Championship Game, the Black Bears defeated Vermont in penalty kicks to claim the tournament title. Maine lost ot UCF, 2-0 in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
This season, Maine returns three of its top five scorers from the 2025 team. The Black Bears also return eight starters from last year. Maine had a pair of Preseason All-America East selections in senior defender Luise Reinwald and junior midfielder Olivia Grisdale. The Black Bears were picked to finish first in the preseason coaches' poll and tied with Binghamton with four first-place votes each.
Sophomore goalie Elena Barenberg started the season opener for Maine. Barenberg played in two games last season, allowing five goals.
