MACON, Ga. – Mercer Volleyball dropped the Mercer Invitational to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Saturday in four sets.

The Bears kept up with the Buccaneers for most of the match, but just couldn't get the hits to fall their way when they mattered most. Despite the loss, Mercer had many bright spots, including Sammi Bergjans 1,000th career assist in the second set.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 24-26	The Bears came out strong, going on an early five-point run to take a 6-2 lead, but the Buccaneers responded with four of their own to tie the set up at six apiece. Mercer regained control and established a 20-13 lead, but the Buccaneers went on a six-point run late and later took the final three points to win the set 26-24.
SET 2 I 25-18	Mercer and Charleston Southern went back-and-forth for the early parts of the second set, with the Bears establishing a 17-10 lead off an eight-point run. The Orange and Black later increased their lead to nine and closed out the set with a 25-18 win.
SET 3 I 19-25	Charleston Southern regained control early in the third set, taking an 8-4 lead. The Bears fought back to bring the score to within one, but the Buccaneers kept a steady lead for the rest of the third set, taking the final three points to win 25-19.
SET 4 \| 23-25	The Bears and Buccaneers went toe-to-toe to start the third set with it being tied at 13 apiece before Charleston Southern took a 20-17 lead late in the match. The Bears tied it up at 22 off a three-point run, but the Buccaneers took the set 25-23 and the match 3-1.
