MACON – Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in nearly a month, the Mercer Bears blanked UNC Greensboro to earn their first point in Southern Conference play on Saturday night at Betts Stadium.

Heading into Saturday's match, the Spartans averaged 12.25 shots per game and 5.75 shots on goal per game and led the SoCon with a +8 goal differential. The Bears limited UNCG's offense to just nine shots and three on target. Mercer completely stifled the Spartans' attack in the second half and only allowed two shots the entire 45 minutes.

Eight members of Mercer's starting eleven completed the entire 90 minutes. Eli Bannister and Will Taylor led the Bears with two shots and one attempt on goal each.

UP NEXT
The Bears continue conference play at Liberty on Saturday, October 3. The Flames (3-4-2, 1-1-0 SoCon) are coming off a 1-0 win over Furman and joined the SoCon this past offseason.
