MACON, Ga. – Mercer Volleyball swept The Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday for the second consecutive match to take a 2-0 record to start SoCon play.

The Bears took control of the match early in the first set and used that momentum to help carry the energy for the rest of the match. The Citadel attempted to rally in the early parts of the second and third sets, but Mercer held on both times to rally and take each of them to start the conference season off at 2-0.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-15	The Bears took control early with a four-point run to go ahead 7-3. The Bulldogs battled back to bring the score within two before Mercer went on another four-point run to make it 11-5. The Bears added two more four-point rallies to cruise to a first set victory at 25-15.
SET 2 I 27-25	The Bulldogs and Bears exchanged early points with both teams sitting at 11 apiece midway through the match before Mercer rallied off five straight points to make the score 16-11. The Citadel responded immediately with a five-point run of their own and both teams went back to their back-and-forth play. Mercer went on a three-point run to force set point at 24-22, but the Bulldogs took the next two points to force additional play. Mercer did not give up the lead at any point and eventually took the second set 27-25.
SET 3 I 25-22	The Citadel came out to prove a point in the final set, jumping ahead 8-2. Mercer didn't stay down for long though, as they fought back and used a four-point run to tie the game at 11. The teams continued to battle before the Bears went on a three-point run late in the game to take a lead that they did not give up for the remainder of the set to win the set 25-22, and the match 3-0.
