Since 2009, the Bears and the Bruins have met eight times. Mercer has a 7-1 record in those meetings. The two programs last met on November 14, 2021 in the Southern Conference Championship. Dylan Gaither scored a brace in the first half and assisted both of Mercer's goals in the second half, including Trevor Martineau's game-winning goal in the 88th minute, to claim the Bears' fourth SoCon title. Belmont's only win in the series came on April 3, 2021 in Nashville.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer fell to 0-3-1 on the season this past Monday after losing to UAB, 1-0, at Betts Stadium. The Blazers scored in the 15th minute. The Bears fired five shots on goal but could not find the equalizer. Henry Hampshaw added three more saves to up his season tally to 14 through four matches.

Belmont enters Friday's match on seven days' rest. The Bruins last took the pitch on August 28, when they lost to Central Arkansas, 0-2, in Conway, Arkansas. Belmont fired seven shots on goal and won nine corners, but the Bears kept Belmont off the board.
The Bruins earned their first win of the season on Sunday, August 23, when they scored their most goals in a single match since 2017. Belmont thumped Wright State, 6-1, behind a Paul Claes Nielsen brace. Claes Nielsen was a Preseason All-MVC selection after finishing last year on the MVC All-Freshman team.
