Bori, King Voted Mercer Scholar-Athletes Of The Week

MACON – Olivia Bori and Jaylen King lit up the scoreboard this past week to be named the Mercer Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of August 31 through September 6.

Bori, a senior midfielder from Jacksonville, Florida, scored three goals across two starts and led the women's soccer team to a 4-0 win at Winthrop and a 5-0 win over Alabama State. Bori was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

King, a senior from Folkston, Georgia, threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns with 48 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the first half of Mercer football's 62-3 rout over Presbyterian this past Saturday. King went 12-of-15 on pass attempts and ended the night with a 300.2 passing efficiency rating, the second-best single-game mark in program history.

Bori and the women's soccer team travel to Tampa, Florida, this Thursday, September 10. The Bears play South Florida at Corbett Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

King and the football team defend Five Star Stadium this Saturday, September 12, in the Bears' SoCon opener against Furman. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
