A seasoned professional who has already gained invaluable experience at a multitude of levels across the field, Hannah Zech begins her first season with the Mercer athletics department in 2023-24 as the associate athletic trainer for the Bears. She is specifically responsible for the prevention and care of injuries for MU’s baseball and football teams.
A seven-year veteran of the athletic training profession, Zech made the move to Middle Georgia from Colorado Springs, Colo., where she spent one season at UC Health and undertook a role as the head athletic trainer for Sand Creek High School. She also served additional duties as an assistant athletic trainer the Pioneer League’s Rocky Mountain Vibes baseball organization, while also developing and implementing athletic training care for the City of Fountain police and fire departments.
While pursuing her graduate degree in Salt Lake City, Utah, Zech served as an athletic trainer at nearby West High School for two years (2016-18) before returning to her alma mater as an assistant athletic trainer ahead of the 2018-19 athletic season. While at Charleston Southern, she served as the primary athletic trainer for the Bucs’ cross country and track & field programs, while also assisting with CSU’s football squad as well. She also took on additional duties as the clinical preceptor for Charleston Southern’s Graduate Athletic Training program.
A native of Orange, Calif., Zech was crowned as the 2016 Athletic Training Student of the Year on the way to earning her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Charleston Southern in 2016. She was presented with a master’s degree in sports medicine from Utah in 2018.
