An energetic mentor and advisor who has already gained invaluable experience as both a former collegiate student-athlete and coach, Caitlin Bamberger begins her third season at Mercer in 2024-25 as the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services.
Bamberger is charged with assisting in the oversight of six academic advisors and support specialists that provide academic guidance to MU’s more-than 400 student-athletes. She is responsible for coordinating multiple areas of academic support, which includes monitoring, evaluating, and determining student-athlete’s academic performance for eligibility purposes.
No stranger to the oversight of impeccable academic success, Bamberger spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Findlay where she not only helped lead the Oilers to nearly 90 victories across her time in northwest Ohio, but also coordinated the program’s community service events and served as the academic supervisor as well. Findlay registered a 3.65 team grade point average or better four times under her leadership, and finished among the Women's Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) Top 25 academic teams three times. The Oilers registered NCAA Division II’s fourth-best team GPA during the 2017-18 academic year, and turned in the nation’s fifth-best team GPA the following campaign.
Bamberger spent three seasons on the coaching staff at North Alabama, first as a graduate assistant for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns, before taking on a role as a part-time assistant coach for the Lions during the 2015-16 season. Among her duties at UNA was serving as the academic liaison for a program that posted the WBCA’s 22nd-best team GPA during the 2014-15 campaign.
A former basketball student-athlete for Shippensburg from 2009-13, Bamberger played in 50 games (32 starts) for the Raiders and averaged 6.0 points and 4.9 rebounds across her solid career on the hardwood. The three-year captain played in 25 games (23 starts) as a redshirt sophomore in 2011-12 and tacked up a career-best 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds an outing.
The Blandon, Pa., native earned her bachelor’s degree in human communication studies from Shippensburg in 2013, and completed her graduate work in health and human promotion at North Alabama in 2015.
