A seasoned professional who has already gained a wealth of experience at two other collegiate institutions, Jordyn Knapp begins her first year at Mercer in 2024-25 as an associate athletic trainer for the Bears. She is specifically responsible for the prevention and care of injuries for MU’s men’s lacrosse team, while also serving as the department’s insurance coordinator.
Knapp made the move to the Peach State from Spartanburg, S.C., where she spent two seasons (2022-24) on the athletic training staff at Wofford. While with the Terriers, she was charged with the day-to-day athletic training responsibilities for the football program, while also serving as the primary point of communication for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams. Knapp also provided supervision and mentorship for athletic training students at Wofford and undertook a dual role as a faculty member in the Athletic Training Residency Program at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Before trekking to northwest South Carolina, Knapp spent the 2021-22 athletic season as an assistant athletic trainer at Appalachian State where she worked primarily with the women’s basketball and women’s tennis programs. She also served a one-year stint (2020-21) as a resident athletic trainer at Wofford and was assigned to the women’s basketball and football squads.
A native of Woodbridge, Va., Knapp earned her bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise studies at Randolph College in 2018, and completed her graduate work in athletic training at Charleston Southern in 2020. She is a board-certified athletic trainer and is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association.
