
Men's Soccer Falls in Exhibition at South Carolina, 1-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Mercer men's soccer team saw its first live in-game action of the 2013 campaign in a 1-0 exhibition loss to South Carolina on Sunday evening at Stone Stadium.
The game, which served as the kick-off to the 2013 season for both teams, was delayed for about an hour and a half due to rain before action actually got underway.
After a scoreless first half, South Carolina scored the lone goal of the contest in the 53rd minute of play courtesy of junior midfielder Asa Kryst.
For the game, the Gamecocks held a 23-6 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
Junior Greg Ranjitsingh played all 90 minutes in net for the Bears and made eight saves in the contest.
Sophomore forward Jason Sayers led all Mercer players with three shots, including two on goal, in a losing effort.
Mercer is back in action when it returns to the state of South Carolina to take on Clemson in its 2013 regular season opener on August 30 at 7:30 p.m..
