MACON, Ga. -- The Mercer men's soccer team and the Mercer Boys Soccer Academy will host its 2015 Winter College ID Camp on January 17.
The winter session is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Bear Field on the campus of Mercer University.
The camp will feature players from grades 9-12, as well as junior college players. The event is an excellent opportunity to be trained by the Mercer men's soccer coaching staff, while being on campus to experience the feel of a collegiate campus. The academy gives each participant a chance to see and feel what it is like to train in a Division I collegiate setting.
Brad Ruzzo, the 2014 Southern Conference Coach of the Year, and assistant coaches Ian Cameron and Matt Kuehl will be the primary instructors at the clinic along with current players from the squad. Both field players and goalkeepers are welcomed to the camp as training sessions are offered for both specialties.
In 2014, Mercer recorded an overall record of 14-7, while tallying an 8-2 mark in SoCon play. The Bears won the SoCon regular season title in their first season in the league and played in the SoCon Tournament Championship match. The 2014 squad included SoCon Freshman of the Year, Will Bagrou, and Goalkeeper of the Year, Greg Ranjitsingh.
