
Women's Lacrosse Steams Past Gardner-Webb, 15-2

MACON, Ga. – Nine players scored for the Bears as the Mercer women's lacrosse team sailed to a 15-2 win over Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon at Five Star Stadium.
Hannah Bair led Mercer with three goals and added an assist to total four points, while Lindsey Zeltwanger also tallied four points, off two goals and two assists. Meghan Segreti grabbed a team-high three draw controls, while Katie Brueske and Marisa Agganis each dug up a team-leading four ground balls.
"I'm really pleased with the way the team came out today," said Head Coach Eve Levinson. "They were ready, they were determined, and they had the passion to go play this game together. That's what we've been emphasizing with them all season and it was a pleasure to see them go out there and execute the game plan and finish off this game as a unit."
The Bears (3-3) took a 4-0 lead just 7:45 into the game and never looked back. Gardner-Webb (0-7) added a pair of goals in the first half, but were unable to slow Mercer's momentum.
Mercer used a 7-0 second half to seal the victory, going to running clock with over 15 minutes remaining in the game.
Mercer will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule at Presbyterian on Friday, March 20 at 4 p.m. in Clinton, S.C.

NUMBERS OF NOTE
- Hannah Bair led Mercer with three goals and four points, while Lindsey Zeltwanger also had a team-high four points off two goals and two assists. Each also added an assist, three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
- Tori Blakeman notched two goals and two ground balls, Gabby Goldberg tallied two goals, and Audrey Allen added two goals and two draw controls.
- Kate Leone, Holly Berns, Kate Christian and Anna Schneeberger all found the back of the net for the Bears. Berns, Schneeberger and Jillian Bailey each added an assist as well.
- In goal, Haleigh Wurzel made three saves in the first half, and Michele Holmes notched six saves in the second half.
- Mercer outshot Gardner-Webb, 34-13, and also won in ground balls (34-25), draw controls (10-8) and caused turnovers (8-3).
