ATLANTA, Ga. – The Mercer University men's tennis team fell to Georgia State, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Piedmont Park.
The Bears won the doubles point and took a 2-0 lead over Georgia State when Nicolas Guillon defeated Andrei Andrukhou (6-1, 6-0). The Panthers won the remaining five singles matches to rally and defeat the Bears, 5-2.
"When you win the doubles point and then drop five of six first sets, that is unacceptable," said Head Coach Eric Hayes. "Nicolas played great today. When this team learns to out compete their opponent from beginning to end, the outcome will be different."
Next up, Mercer will host Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
