MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will snap the lid on the fall portion of its 2026-27 schedule this weekend when the Bears gather their maul and head to Spartanburg, S.C., for the Wofford UTR Tournament. Action at the three-day event is scheduled to get underway on Friday at the Reeves Tennis Center.
Newcomers Nico Niox and Raphael Raphaël have both logged a team-best six singles victories heading into the weekend, with Rousson riding the momentum of a 3-1 clip at last weekend's Wake Forest Invitational in which he advanced all the way through to the title match of his respective draw. Niox registered a straight-sets triumph over East Tennessee State's Kai Cowcher to pick up his lone weekend win in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Senior Shingo Masuda and 5th Year transfer Pablo Paternostro have carried the torch for the Orange & Black in doubles amid fall action. The duo has split eight matchups on the doubles court, including a 6-4 victory over James Madison's Theodor Lorentzon/Zachary Fleishman at the Wake Forest Invitational.
The Bears will enjoy 2-month hibernation period following this weekend's action in Spartanburg, but will return to action on Jan. 16, 2027, when it opens its traditional spring campaign at Southeastern Conference foe Florida.
