Mercer Women Claim Fourth at JSU Invite

OXFORD, Ala. – The Mercer women's cross country team placed fourth among Division I teams in the JSU Foothills Invitational 5K on Saturday, Oct. 1, led by the performance of freshman Anna Grzeszczak.

Grzeszczak was Mercer's top finisher in the 5K, completing the event in 18:51.3. Six other Bears placed in the top-33, including Victoria Rogers (19:16.8), McKaylin Darsey (19:29.6), Kimmie Whiting (19:50.8), Bethanie Bailey (19:55.3), Shannon Millikin (20:02.6) and Courtney Czerniak (20:03.6).

Mercer's total time of 1:37.23 placed the team behind champion Georgia Tech (1:32:02), Chattanooga (1:32:40) and Georgia Southern (1:35:44). It was the first time Grzeszcak has been Mercer's top finisher. It was also one of many accomplishments for Mercer on Saturday, as the women combined with the men's team for 11 personal records and 14 season-best finishes.
