10/18/2016 9:45:00 PM | Men's Soccer
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jordan Duru and Jake Mezei each scored within 10 minutes of each other in the second half to break open a tie as Mercer swept the season series against Wofford with a 3-1 win Tuesday night at Snyder Field in Spartanburg.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Mercer led Wofford in corner kicks Saturday night, 8-1. The potent offense, responsible for three goals, kept the pressure on the Terriers throughout.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Jordan Duru gets the nod for this Tuesday night as his goal – which ended up being the game-winner – came just over six minutes after Wofford netted the equalizer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer continued its trend of scoring quickly Tuesday night. Already with the three fastest goals in the Southern Conference this year, Conner Antley put his name on the list as he scored in the seventh minute to put Mercer up, 1-0.
Wofford's Matthew Aurednik would net the equalizer in the 57th minute but just over six minutes later Jordan Duru would reclaim Mercer's lead with an unassisted goal. Less than 10 minutes after that, Jake Mezei joined in the fun, assisted by Will Bagrou and Trenton Whitely, as Mezei netted his second goal of the year and third of the match for the Bears.
