
Women's Lacrosse Falters In Second Half Against Longwood

MACON, Ga. – Longwood outscored Mercer 8-2 in the second half to overcome the Bears and pick up a 13-7 win on Friday evening at Five Star Stadium. Lindsey Zeltwanger led Mercer with three goals and Erica Coyne dished out both of the Bears' assists.
Katie McHugh led Longwood with four goals and three assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Longwood surged to a 5-0 lead in the first 10:25 of the first half. Meghan Segreti scored Mercer's first goal of the game, as the Bears embarked on a 5-0 run of their own. Mercer's run lasted 14:26 and knotted the score at 5-5 before halftime.
The Lancers came out hot in the second half as well, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes to retake the lead, 7-5. Longwood scored another five unanswered goals before Lindsey Zeltwanger found the back of the net for the third time of the day, moving the score to 12-6 with 6:47 left in the game. Each team netted another goal to put the score at 13-7 in Longwood's favor before time ran out.

- Nawal Alami tallied season highs of two goals and three ground balls.
- Erica Coyne recorded a season-high two assists and picked up a draw control.

- In goal, Haleigh Wurzel made 16 saves and allowed 13 goals. She also had three ground balls and two caused turnovers, both of which are season highs.
- Victoria Ferdinandi picked up a career-high three ground balls and Audrey Allen and Audrey Robertson each grabbed a career-high three ground balls.
- Haleigh Brooks recorded two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
- Taylor Horner registered a career-high two caused turnovers and tied her season high of two ground balls.
- Anna Schneeberger grabbed a career-high-tying two draw controls and picked up a ground ball.
- Katie Brueske tallied two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Kendall Garrett, Gabby Goldberg and Kelly Hagerty each notched a ground ball for the Bears.
- The Bears and the Lancers were even with 11 draw controls apiece.
- Longwood outshot Mercer, 33-17. The Lancers also grabbed 32 ground balls, compared to the Bears' 30.

Mercer moves to 0-3 on the season and Longwood improves to 1-3.
