THE BEARS IN THE TEAM STANDINGS
Mercer saw a six-stroke improvement from the second round to today's final 18 holes of play, carding an 8-over 296 on Tuesday. Despite the upswing the Bears remained in a tie for the sixth-place, just two strokes away from what would have been the program's third straight Top-5 finish. Coastal Carolina claimed the team title, while Chattanooga and College of Charleston rounded out the top three teams.
MERCER SPOTLIGHT
Tindal recorded the Bears' only Top-20 finish at the tournament, finishing in a tie for 15th after scoring a 3-over 75 in the final round. The sophomore's total tally of 221 is her best score of her collegiate career, topping a 224-stroke effort in the opening tournament of the 2016 spring season, the FGCU Eagle Invitational.
COACH DRINKARD'S TAKE
"I'm proud of the team, we made great strides this week and embraced the challenge. We are improving every round we play and that is very exciting for our future. Jaelyn really was a grinder this tournament. If she didn't hit the green her mindset became that it didn't matter because she would either chip it in or tap in her putt. You have to be resilient in this game and adapt to the situation at hand and Jaelyn proved that point this week."
