Mercer Places 46 Student-Athletes on Spring Academic All-SoCon Team

MACON, Ga. - Mercer University had 46 student-athletes named to the Southern Conference Spring Academic All-Conference team, as the conference office announced the spring honorees on Monday afternoon.

In total, 389 SoCon student-athletes competing in baseball, men's and women's golf, men's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field were honored by the league.

To be included, a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the spring season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the 2015-16 campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.

The SoCon had 16 student athletes achieve perfect 4.0 cumulative GPAs during the spring semester. Conner Herd (baseball) and Courtney Czerniak (women's outdoor track and field) were Mercer's representatives on the list.

Mercer women's outdoor track and field led the way with 11 selections, ranking third among SoCon women's outdoor track and field programs. The Bears finished first in the SoCon with eight honorees from their baseball program.
