Philp Picks Up Win On Final Day In Puerto Rico

PALMAS DEL MAR, Puerto Rico – Sam Philp pulled out a three-set win over Illinois' Aleksandar Kovacevic to highlight Mercer's men's tennis team's final day in Puerto Rico on Sunday.

Philp dropped the first set, 7-6, but won the second, 6-4, to force a tiebreak, which he also won, 1-0.

On the final day of the Palmas Del Mar Tournament, eight Bears played singles matches against opponents from Florida State, Georgia and Illinois.

Mercer will continue fall play Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the UTC Fall Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.
